congratulations

A (nearly) 21-year-old college student (double major: English and anthropology, thank you) starts a blog. Let us gasp all at once. What's more, he has no plan, no theme, no gimmick, and no idea what he's doing. He is not sure how he's found himself in the third person.

So here I am. My name is Jared, nice to meet you. I am predisposed to strangeness and misinformation (and parenthesis). I am what you might call a "Jack of some trades, failure at most." But I try. I have opinions on most everything, no matter if I am well-informed or not, but I do love having my mind changed.

Things that might happen on this blog: discussion of hard-hitting topics, such as the state of contemporary poetry, or the many problems I have with the "gay community"; discussion of less hard-hitting topics, such as cheese, or the wonderful world of fragrance; and as a matter of course, diary, and likely lots of it. I may also from time to time embark on projects, and will likely post the fragments left over once I've grown bored and abandoned them.

I will likely talk frequently about how amazing I am (narcissism). I will also likely complain quite a lot (nihilism).

To close, I will tell you my favorite joke (ahem):

Two muffins are sitting in an oven. One muffin turns to the other and says, "Hey, it's getting pretty hot in here." The second muffin turns to the first and says, "Holy shit! A talking muffin!"
